One of the great things about working with switch is all of the numbers of ways that you can get jobs into the system. Over the next few videos we're going to look at a few of those ways.
So what we're going to do is we're going to take a look at this switch workflow where we're using a submission point to get jobs into the system and what's nice about a submission point as one of the places you can submit jobs is that you can set up and record a variety of pieces of private data that allow you to capture and use that metadata as we go through a job. So for instance here we're grabbing the order number, the customer name, when the proof is due, substrates, quantity, scaling, a variety of questions and then in the course of this flow we can take all those pieces into account and make decisions based on them. The information you give it metadata is going to set the preflight profile we use, it's going to set the bleed that gets set because for grand format or wide format for instance we're going to set a greater bleed. It's going to determine how artwork is filed as we go through the process all by allowing the capture of data through metadata fields so that then when we're examining the web portal and we're looking at how to submit jobs we can go ahead and submit any job we want to the system and answer all the questions here at submission point.
This is great for even a system that's driven by customer service reps for instance so that all the information can get in here. We have the order number, the customer name, the proof due, what sort of production departments it's running through and how we're going to proof it out and then work flows through the pre-press portion of switch without any touching.
